The HEAL Foundation

After completing 10th grade, Prasad stayed back in his village to assist his family in grazing animals and in agriculture.  He spontaneously assisted HEAL in a Community Empowerment Process Assessment and showed a lot of interest in becoming a volunteer. Since becoming a volunteer, he has succeeded in helping local farmers and has led the them to demand for land rights to obtain deeds.

Prasad has referred 58 patients to the health center in two years and closely follows 12 tuberculosis patients. He has also helped 13 farmers to seek subsidies.

Prasad has gained a lot of respect in his village and recently became a popular desk clerk where he fills in all the needed application forms, memorandums, etc.  He says he is very satisfied and feels happy to be part of this empowerment process.

This is the state of a village before HEAL began programs there.

This is the state of the same village after HEAL instituted programs there. There are now permanent structures and the environment is organized and clean. This has allowed many civilians, including Prasad, to have a better quality of life, attain social justice, and strive to end the cycle of poverty.
